LEAN Philosophy
When clients engage Snyder Langston early in the design process, we’re able to apply game-changing construction principles from the LEAN philosophy—one of the most authentic ways we’ve found to express our 52-year commitment to quality and true client value. Two of our preferred LEAN processes include:
-
Target Value Design
Grounded in accuracy and fiscal responsibility, the Target Value Design process guides our teams in forecasting costs, considering alternatives and evaluating constructability first to ensure that budgets are an influence on—not an outcome of—a building’s design. The process averts delays due to redesigns, circumvents physical and procedural waste and eradicates budget overruns.
-
Set Based Design
Set Based Design removes the potential for hasty or impulsive decisions by compelling teams to create a set of solutions that satisfy cost, function and quality objectives for their development project. Snyder Langston creates these sets at the start of a project, and references them at every stage of pre-construction to ensure that design and budget progress in tandem. The result is the highest customer value for the lowest production cost.
The LEAN philosophy runs parallel to many core Snyder Langston values, such as:
- Making decisions that deliver true value.
- Applying the right process for quality results.
- Cultivating expert problem solvers.
- Continuously improving while reducing costs.
